Our 2010 Annual Training Conference will feature two full days of workshops, training and networking opportunities. Training will be related to civil rights, employment and education. A half-day is dedicated to students excited about future employment, seeking mentoring and counseling from sponsors, registrants and exhibitors.

                            Synopsis: This course is designed to provide experienced EEO counselors and other 
                                            EEO practitioners with EEO law updates and to enhance writing skills. This 
                                            course satisfies the 8 hour per annum training requirement for federal EEO 
                                            counselors. Participants will learn about the two new anti-discrimination 
                                            statutes, the ADA Amendments Act and the Genetic Information 
                                            Nondiscrimination Act, and highlights EEO counselors’ responsibility to 
                                            inform counselees of the availability, benefits and advantages of Alternate 
                                            Dispute Resolution programs. At the completion of this course, participants 
                                            will be able to: 

               1. Understand the basics of the ADAA Amendments Act and reasonable accommodation; 
               2. Understand what discrimination on the basis of genetic information entails; 
               3. Encourage employees and managers to take advantage of ADR processes by focusing 
                   on the advantages of utilizing such programs, and the benefits of workplace resolutions;
                4. Apply skills obtained from practical exercises to real life situations.

                             Synopsis:   This general session covers expected attrition and hiring trends in 
                                               the Federal Government over the course of the next 5 to 10 years given 
                                               expected retirement of “baby boomers” and creation of new Federal 
                                               programs.  This session will identify occupational fields with the greatest 
                                               expected demand for hiring and how both the Federal Government and
                                               the Hispanic community can take advantage of these opportunities to
                                               fill critical jobs with qualified candidates and achieve a Federal workforce
                                               that is representative of the US labor pool.

                                            Dr. Harry R. Salinas is a Human Resources Management Consultant 
                                            and  Civil Rights Practitioner; Certified Federal Job Search Trainer and     
                                            Federal Employment and Career Management Counselor; Certified 
                                            Mediator;    Bilingual (Spanish/English) Counselor, Educator, and Facilitator. 
                                            In January 2005, Dr. Salinas retired from Federal Government culminating 
                                            35-years of distinguished and honorable public service career from the U.S. 
                                            Department of Agriculture, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights,
                                            Washington D.C.
                   

                         Synopsis:   This presentation will focus on the “Value” of preparing a student resume, 
                                            discussion on simple strategies for winning opportunities for a rewarding 
                                            and  bright future, and group discussion to “emphasize” the reasons why 
                                            students should prepare and maintain a resume to seek winning 
                                            opportunities.  Over 85% of Hispanic high school student graduates 
                                           don’t have any idea on “what  they want to do after high school.”  And 
                                           most of them, they’re not aware of the value of preparing a student resume
                                           to market their skills, their knowledge, their achievements, and their 
                                           unlimited potential in the world of  opportunities.  The main objective is 
                                           to  enlighten, inspire, and provide  valuable tools so they can use and apply 
                                           accordingly to enjoy a blessed and rewarding future.
